Aerospace Newsletter Vol 1, September 2007

My Efforts
I will make an effort to expand communication between group and its squadrons. As your group AEO, I will at least act on this effort and report monthly to you some of the events and gains experienced by yours truly during my tenure in this position. This Newsletter will be issued at least once a month, with an occasional special edition.
My Activities
- During the past few months I have visited several of the units in our group, I‘m more than half way thru. If I have not yet visited please email or call me so I can set an appointment to do so. In case you didn’t know, there are 14 squadrons in this group.
- During these visits I have asked for your cooperation in reporting via the yearly Unit AE Activity Reports, the AE Plan of Action and the Continuity Book, to mention a few.
Yeager Information
Yeager Test are online. After successfully passing the member will automatically have the accomplishment posted to the computer records and the certificate will be available for download as a pdf. The only reason we need to have a Form 127 and have the DAE issue a CAPC 20 is in the event that the member takes the test as a pencil and paper exam and not online. If DAEs need information regarding those who have taken the test online and passed in their wing, this is the procedure: The DAE needs to log in at: https://ntc.cap.af.mil/login.htm DAE should see “Test Reports” in the left column of the menu. This link is restricted to people assigned to region or wing HQ. If the DAE is not assigned to the wing HQ, we will have to give him/her specific permissions. We hope this helps to streamline the Yeager test process and make the reporting easier for all concerned.
Yeager Award Winners Congratulations to the following award winners that have brought this milestone to my attention during the past several months:
- 2Lt. Marybeth Williams, Squadron 101
- 1Lt. Ryan Kelly, Squadron 101
- 2Lt. Brad Warner, Squadron 101
- Sm. Andrew Nortafrancesco, Squadron 104
Continuity Book
SUGGESTION CONTENTS FOR AEO CONTINUITY BOOK
Each department in a Unit should have a Continuity Book which contains all the information and instructions for doing a particular job in that Unit. The book is to be kept up to date just in case an unexpected emergency should arise which causes a member to need to leave CAP without time to train a replacement. First, purchase a 1.5” three-ring binder. You will also need at least eight (8) tab dividers. It is handy to have a binder with pockets on the inside and a clear pocket on the outside for a cover page.
| Outside Cover text: | - Aerospace Education Continuity Book for (Unit name – NER-PA-???)
|
| Tab #1: | - Signed CAPF 2A assigning the current AEO and any assistant AEOs to their positions
- List of contact information for Region, Wing, Group, Unit AEOs (internal & external)
|
| Tab #2: | - Unit AE Compliance Checklist with answers for each question and proposed corrective actions (if deficient) (CAPP 15, p. 30-31)
|
| Tab #3: | - AE Wing, Group &/or Unit Plans of Action (see Unit sample in CAPP 15, p. 24-25)
|
| Tab #4: | - AEO Job Description (CAPR 20-1)
|
| Tab #5: | - Instructions for Job Accomplishment
|
| Tab #6: | - Forms, Reports, Databases & Tools (Yearly Unit AE Activity Report, CAPF 25, CAPF 126, etc)
|
| Tab #7: | |
| Tab #8: | - AEO Newsletters (National, Wing, Group, Unit)
|
Feel free to add any other tabs which will help you (and your assistants/interim AEO) such as the AEO Handbook (CAPP 15), CAPP 215, CAPR 280-2, CAPR 50-20, Cadet AE module books, AEX books, AE web links and AE lesson plans. It is also a good idea to keep in your binder a current back-up of all your AE files on a CD-Rom
