RE:
HAWK MOUNTAIN RANGER SCHOOL;
STAFF TRAINING
Attention to all cadets
interested in the PAWG Ranger Program:
HMRS
is aware that certain publications have indicated that
Staff Candidate interviews would be conducted at the
January 16, 2010 Review Boards at Wing Headquarters,
Winter Schools East and West, and the first Staff
Training Weekend of February 27.
However,
please do not be discouraged if you did not make it to
an interview. The ‘interview’ is NOT
a prerequisite to attendance in the Staff
Training Program! In fact, we
anticipate that there will be plenty of cadets we have
not interviewed showing up for the first weekend -and
sincerely hope that turns out to be the case! The
interview, though seemingly formal, serves only to let
folks know that we do take this program seriously. It
also helps to give us an idea in advance of what
'caliber of individuals' we may expect to see on day
one.
Generally, if we come across an individual who has the
motivation and skill to complete the program, but lacks
in other areas (rank/grade, fitness levels, encampment
experience, etc), we work with them anyway to get them
through and bring them to where they need to be. That is
part of our overall ‘teamwork philosophy’ and the reason
why you sometimes see cadets being awarded a 'scarf' at
summer school or in other venues. We keep track of
individual achievements and make sure our hard working
cadets get their recognition as soon as they can.
In short, please feel free
to come on out to the mountain. Bring a buddy! It gets
pretty tough and sometimes it’s nice to have a familiar
friend by your side to share the experiences with. The
Armed Forces still use the buddy sign up system for that
reason! Training begins on Saturday, 27
February 2010.
We hope to see you there!
