Join CAP

Overview

While we welcome pilots, you don’t have to be a pilot to join. CAP offers many avenues of volunteer service, including emergency services, training and mentoring for cadets, and aerospace education. We also need volunteers for community outreach, media relations and administrative responsibilities.

CAP has more than 1,700 squadrons throughout the nation. We suggest you locate one or more squadrons near you and visit during their regular meeting time. All squadrons are different in personality and focus, so look for the one that most closely matches your interests.

You must be at least 18 to join CAP as an adult member. See your local commander for details on dues for your unit. For the protection of our cadets, prospective members must undergo a fingerprint screen.

If you’re interested in joining CAP’s cadet program, you must be between 12 and 21 years old. You can get a good idea of what cadet membership is all about by visiting the cadet or composite (cadets and adults) squadrons in your area.

For a good ongoing sense of what CAP units are doing throughout the country, you can check out CAP News Online.

We are glad you are ready to serve your country and your community with us. To find the unit nearest you, please use our CAP Unit Locator. There is an online info request form or if you prefer, you can download our Prospective Member Information Package in low or high resolution PDF files.
