Mapping Resources

  • Batchgeocode.com - Allows mapping of multiple coordinates on one photo
  • GeoCoder.us - Convert a street address into Latitude and Longitude
  • Google Earth - Great aerial photo/map site
  • GPS Visualizer - Convert a single or multiple street addresses into Latitude and Longitude
  • Jeeep.com - Convert coordinates into different types of Latitude and Longitude sytsems (Change 37.111 into 37 deg 10.8')

  • TopoZone - Excellent source for topographic maps
  • Yahoo! Maps - Not as user friendly as GoogleEarth, but has much higher quality photos of more of Pennsylvania

General Emergency Services (GES) Qualification

Note: If you wish to start training in a specialty, print the appropriate SQTR, take it to your unit commander and have him/her sign the top section saying that you have completed the pre-requisites. Then make a copy of the form and have it placed in the Emergency Services file maintained for you by the squadron to document that you are allowed to train in that skill. Follow this same process when you complete the Familiarization and Preparatory Training section. When you have completed all the tasks and it has been signed by the squadron commander a copy of the SQTR should be placed in your squadron file and your unit ES Officer or Commander should enter it into the MIMS system so that you can print off a current CAPF 101 showing you are qualified in that skill.

Operations Security Training (OPSEC)

Below is an excerpt from Gen Pineda's Operations Security letter. Please read the letter and take the training at the earliest opportunity. OPSEC Training Letter (PDF)

The OPSEC Training course is available at: https://tests.cap.af.mil/opsec/

Excerpt from General Pineda's letter:
"I am very pleased to announce another initiative which will help position CAP for more Homeland Security responsibilities. One of the key aspects of our mission preparedness will be training. Specifically we need to educate our members about how to handle sensitive information concerning our missions, our capabilities and our partner agencies. For this purpose our staff has developed an OPSEC training program tailored to CAP. I've reviewed the program and I think you and your members will find it both entertaining and informative. It will help all of us be more thoughtful about dealing with sensitive information."
